PhD Student (Without Program)
Université de Montréal

As a researcher (doctoral student without a program) with the Yardley Lab at the Université de Montréal, I am dedicated to advancing our understanding of diabetes management, with a specific focus on resistance exercise and its effects on type 1 diabetes. My work aims to explore how resistance training can be optimized to improve glycemic and overall health outcomes for those living with type 1 diabetes.
In recognition of my promising work, I was honoured as a Diabetes Link Fellow and attended the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES) Conference in 2023. This fellowship provided valuable opportunities to connect with leading experts and gain insights into innovative approaches to diabetes management.
My commitment to patient advocacy and community engagement led to my selection as a #dedoc° voice for both the Diabetes UK Professional Conference 2024 and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) 2024 Scientific Sessions. In these roles, I look forward to amplifying the perspectives of people living with diabetes and contributing to discussions on patient-centered care, particularly in the context of physical activity and diabetes management.
This conference marks my debut presentation in the field, where I am excited to share my initial findings on the main barriers to and facilitators of regular physical activity in type 1 diabetes. As an early career researcher, I am passionate about collaborating with clinicians, exercise physiologists, and individuals living with diabetes to translate our research into practical, real-world applications.
My goal is to contribute to the development of evidence-based strategies that empower people with type 1 diabetes to safely and effectively incorporate resistance exercise into their lives, ultimately improving their health and quality of life. I am enthusiastic about engaging with the diabetes community and learning from the diverse perspectives and experiences of conference attendees as I continue to grow in this field.
