Dr Baillargeon is Professor of Medicine at the Université de Sherbrooke, Canada, Endocrinologist at the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS) and Clinical Investigator at the CHUS Research Center. He is also director of the Reproductive Endocrinology Clinic at the CHUS. He obtained his medical degree from the Université de Montréal in 1994 and his specialty certificate in endocrinology and metabolism from the Université de Sherbrooke in 1999. From 2001 to 2003, he completed a postdoctoral research fellowship on the metabolic aspects of polycystic ovary syndrome at Virginia Commonwealth University. He also obtained a Master's degree in Clinical Research and Biostatistics from the same university in 2004.
Dr. Baillargeon’s main research interests are the links between obesity and lipotoxicity with sex hormones, polycystic ovary syndrome and fertility in women. He is currently leading a multicenter RCT assessing the benefits of the Fit-For-Fertility program, a transferable, interdisciplinary lifestyle intervention for women with obesity that is integrated into the fertility clinic. He is also the Canadian co-leader of the SCHeLTI multicenter RCT assessing a multifaceted lifestyle intervention for Shanghai’s families from preconception or early pregnancy to 5 years of age of the children. Dr Baillargeon received the CSEM Young Investigator Award in 2011 and served as President of CSEM from 2017 to 2019. He has published 93 original peer-reviewed articles as first or senior author, >30 review articles and 8 book chapters. His publications have been cited more than 8,100 times.
