Dr Hortensia Mircescu is currently practicing in the Division of Endocrinology of the University of Montreal Hospital Center. She is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montreal.
After her training at the University of Montreal she completed her fellowship in Brussels in the field of thyroid cell signaling and proliferation. Upon her return to to the University of Montreal Hospital Center her main clinical interests continued in the area of thyroid disease. She is the medical director of the thyroid cancer team and initiated a thyroid clinic dedicated to hereditary syndromes that increase the risk of thyroid cancer.
She has been involved in several projects aimed to improve patient knowledge and empowerment such as patient oriented symposia, updating patient information pamphlets for the Thyroid Thyroid Foundation of Canada and the University of Montreal Hospital Center and completing a general public book on thyroid physiology and pathophysiology.
She is involved in multiple educational activities ranging from conferences to peers to teaching at different levels of medical training curriculum and participating in the Royal College examination committees.
