Learning Objectives:

  • By the end of the session, participants should have a comprehensive understanding of the newest biology in diabetes, encompassing basic biological mechanisms, translational research, and clinical applications. They should be able to integrate this knowledge into their practice to enhance diabetes care and treatment outcomes. • Examine new molecular targets for diabetes treatment identified through basic research. • Assess the potential of novel therapeutic approaches, including incretin hormones. Discuss strategies for translating basic biological discoveries into clinical applications. Highlight the role of animal models and in vitro systems in translational diabetes research.
  • Discuss case studies demonstrating the effectiveness of personalized treatment strategies.
  • Review the latest research on improving patient outcomes and quality of life in diabetes care. Discuss the role of patient education, lifestyle interventions, and support systems in managing diabetes.
  • Examine the pathophysiology of diabetes in different contexts Describe communication between the exocrine and endocrine pancreas Discuss the importance of human tissue collections and access their contribution to understanding the islet microenvironment.
